it is the same i created a live usb with persistance and try to enter the bios but it doesnt allow me to change boot sequence
jyoti_: the bios is not booting from USB at all. its booting the firmware
i even tried to boot the usb in rescue mode
the bios could not see/find a bootable disk at all.
is that a BIOS thing?
the BIOS can detect my SSD and is letting me select it as the boot device
im thinking that maybe it can't boot from USB...but it will boot from SSD
jyoti_: if you put the usb stick in your EFI setup (on UEFI systems) there is a bootmenue. it doesnt boot from the usb. it boots the firmware
jyoti_: yes, the bios decides what to boot. on old systems
k1l_: is there a way to fix this?
the BIOS has to recognize the SSD has a boot option
jyoti_: well, if the bios cant boot from the usb it would be the firmware.
i mean the SSD has to be recognized as bootable so that the BIOS could make a boot option for it
if you have UEFI on the motherboard, if the usb stick is UEFI capable it would ask the UEFI setup to boot from that device. then you have to tell that to the bios setup, and maybe the firmware is not UEFI capable.
the SSD does not even ask for UEFI
is that normal?
jyoti_: it doesnt matter. its not about UEFI. it matters about the hardware architecture.
i have no idea how to change it
well, there are many ways to do that. it can be that it worked for 10 years and for 10 years it doesnt work anymore.
i am using an ASUS USB BIOS Flasher
maybe that could fix it?
if you put the usb on the usb
